Water Treatment Services in Raleigh

City water or well water, we cover the whole range. Every service has its own trained process and a dedicated page explaining exactly what it does and what it costs.

Why Water in Raleigh Needs a Local Specialist

Treating water in the Triangle is not one job, it is two, and a company that sells the same system to everyone gets it wrong for half of Raleigh. What your home needs depends entirely on which side of the water meter you are on.

If you are on city water, your supply comes from Falls Lake and the Neuse River, treated and disinfected with chloramine. It meets federal standards, but the chloramine leaves a chlorine-like taste and smell in your drinking water, coffee, and ice, and the wider Cape Fear basin that feeds the region carries PFAS "forever chemicals" and 1,4-dioxane from upstream. A whole house carbon filter fixes the taste and chlorine at every tap, and reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink removes PFAS and dissolved solids from what you drink.

If you are on a private well, and a large share of homes on the rural edges of Wake, Chatham, Franklin, and Johnston counties are, your water is untreated and unregulated. Triangle well water routinely carries iron that stains fixtures orange, hydrogen sulfide that smells like rotten eggs, hardness that scales your water heater, and acidic low pH that slowly eats copper pipe. Each of those has a specific fix, which is why well water treatment always starts with a test, never a sales pitch.

We built this company around exactly that split, in exactly this region. That focus is the difference between a system that solves your actual water problem and an expensive box in the garage that does not.

Serving Raleigh & the Whole Triangle

Raleigh is home base, from North Hills and Five Points to Brier Creek and Wakefield, and we cover the surrounding Triangle from there. That includes Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Morrisville, Knightdale, Clayton, Durham, and Pittsboro.

The mix changes as you move out from the city center: established Raleigh neighborhoods on chloramine-treated city water, fast-growing new construction that needs softeners and drinking-water systems, and a wide ring of well-water homes dealing with iron, sulfur, and acidity. Wherever you are, you get the same free test and the same honest recommendation.

Raleigh Water Questions, Answered

Is Raleigh tap water safe to drink?

Raleigh city water comes from Falls Lake and meets federal drinking water standards, but it is disinfected with chloramine that leaves a chlorine-like taste and smell, and the wider Cape Fear basin that feeds the Triangle carries PFAS and 1,4-dioxane. Most homeowners who filter do it for taste and for peace of mind on those contaminants. A carbon system handles taste and chlorine at every tap; reverse osmosis handles PFAS and dissolved solids at the drinking tap.

Do I have city water or well water in the Triangle?

If you get a monthly water bill from Raleigh, Cary, Durham, or a town utility, you are on treated city water. If you have your own well (common on the rural edges of Wake, Chatham, Franklin, and Johnston counties), your water is untreated and unregulated, and testing and treatment are up to you. We handle both, and the right system is completely different for each.

How much does a water softener or filtration system cost in Raleigh?

Most whole-home water softeners run about $1,500 to $3,500 installed, whole-house carbon filters land in a similar range, and under-sink reverse osmosis is usually a few hundred dollars installed. Well water systems that combine iron, sulfur, and hardness treatment cost more because they do more. We test your water first and give you an exact, up-front written price. See our pricing guide for details.

Why does my well water smell like rotten eggs or stain everything orange?

The rotten-egg smell is hydrogen sulfide gas, and the orange staining is dissolved iron, both extremely common in Triangle well water. We remove them with an air-injection oxidizing filter that pulls the iron and sulfur out before they reach your fixtures, no chemicals to buy and refill.

Do you offer a free water test?

Yes. We test your water in your home, city or well, for hardness, iron, pH, chlorine, sulfur, and dissolved solids, and explain exactly what is in it before anyone talks about equipment. There is no charge and no obligation.

What areas do you serve?

Raleigh is home base, and we serve the whole Triangle: Cary, Apex, Wake Forest, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Morrisville, Knightdale, Durham, Clayton, and Pittsboro, on both city and well water.
